This policy explains what information henryslongway.com (the "Site") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The Site is run by Jay Bowen, author of Henry's Long Way: A Hummingbird's First Migration ("we," "us"). If you have a question, email jay@jbowen.com.
What we collect
- Your email address. When you sign up for the free Flower Bee printable, you give us your email address. We use it to send the printable and occasional news about the book.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our web server automatically logs things like your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit. We use these logs to keep the Site running and secure.
- Advertising and analytics data. We use the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms, Inc. It uses cookies and similar technology to record visits to the Site and actions like signing up for the printable. This helps us see whether our Facebook and Instagram ads are working and show our ads to people who may be interested in the book.
We do not collect payment information. Purchases of the book happen on Amazon and are covered by Amazon's privacy notice.
How we use your information
- To send the printable you asked for and occasional book news.
- To measure and improve our advertising.
- To run, protect, and improve the Site.
- To answer you if you contact us.
- To follow the law.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that help us run the Site, such as our web hosting and email providers. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
- Meta, through the Meta Pixel, as described above. Meta's use of this data is covered by its Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts, which loads the Site's typefaces. Your browser sends a basic request, including your IP address, to Google's servers.
- Authorities, if the law requires it or if we need to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Children's privacy
Henry's Long Way is a book for young readers, but this Site is for the grown-ups who buy and share it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Please do not let a child under 13 submit an email address. If you think a child has given us information, email jay@jbowen.com and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we will remove you.
- Ad tracking: You can change how Meta uses your activity for ads in your Facebook ad preferences. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of interest-based ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance.
- Access or deletion: You can ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email jay@jbowen.com. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU), you may have more rights under local law. We will honor those requests as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep server logs only as long as we need them to run and secure the Site.
Security
We use reasonable steps to protect your information, including a secure (HTTPS) connection. No website is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page.
